In the summer of 1996 I took a month long camping trip through the southwest, photographing many of the unique landscapes there. Ship Rock as this is known is a massive tower of rock in the middle of an otherwise empty plain, the attached ridgeline extends for several miles. From a distance the formation is deceptive, only when you come closer do you realize that what you thought were small rocks on the ground are actually boulders several times larger than your vehicle. This image is taken from a relatively small rock cluster attached to the formation, looking back along the ridge.
